Breaking the Cycle

Comprehensive Care for Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder

OCD is characterized by unwanted, intrusive thoughts (obsessions) and repetitive behaviors or mental acts (compulsions) performed to reduce anxiety. It can take many forms — contamination fears, checking, symmetry, intrusive violent or sexual thoughts, and more. It is not a personality flaw; it's a treatable condition.

We offer Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) — the gold-standard psychological treatment for OCD — as well as supportive therapy and medication management (SSRIs, clomipramine). Our goal is to help you face fears gradually and stop the cycle of compulsions.

What Our OCD Care Includes

  • Thorough assessment to identify your specific obsessions and compulsions
  • Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) therapy — gradual, supported exposure to triggers
  • Techniques to resist compulsions and reduce anxiety without rituals
  • Medication management (SSRIs like fluoxetine, sertraline; or clomipramine) when helpful
  • Support for co-occurring anxiety or depression

Our Approach

How We Help You Break Free from OCD

Evidence-based, collaborative, and compassionate.

1

Identify your unique OCD cycle — triggers, obsessions, anxiety, compulsions, and temporary relief.

2

Create a hierarchy of fears and begin gradual, supported exposures while resisting compulsions (ERP).

3

Practice new responses to intrusive thoughts, reducing their power over time, with ongoing support.

FAQ

Common Questions About OCD Care

What is ERP therapy and is it scary?
Exposure and Response Prevention involves gradually facing feared situations (exposures) while resisting the urge to perform compulsions. It's done step by step, at your pace, and you're always in control. Most people find it empowering, not overwhelming.
Do I need medication for OCD?
Not necessarily. ERP is very effective alone. However, medication (especially high-dose SSRIs) can help many people, especially those with severe symptoms. We'll discuss both options.
How long does ERP take to work?
Many people see significant improvement within 12-20 sessions. Some notice changes even sooner. We'll track your progress together.
What states do you serve?
We provide telehealth OCD care to adults in Washington, Arizona, Massachusetts, and Iowa.
